INFORMATION

The 6th World Youth Choral Festival & Competition in Jeju is an annual summer choral music festival for children and youth which held in Seogwipo city in Jeju. This festival, which will be held from the 17th to 20th of July, 2024, provides musical and cultural exchange programs for young singers from all around the world who are the future global leaders.

Also, participants can experience by competition and workshop which will be given by famous choral experts/lecturers.

We look forward to making great memories by sharing various culture and experiences through their choral music. Let us sing of hope and dream

together in Jeju Island, where the UNESCO designated for its beautiful harmonized nature.

[COMPETITION]

The jury of competition includes famous choral experts from around the world. The final ranks and scores will be decided by the total amount of their evaluations. (No objections will be accepted regarding the final result.) 

[COMPETITION CATEGORY]

A. SACRED-This category includes all sacred music from the Renaissance to Contemporary choral music. There are no limitation lyrics(language). The actual performance and the submitted score must be identical even if it is arranged. There are no limits on using accompanying instrument, however, MR/AR is not allowed, ONLY LIVE PERFORMANCE.The performance must be 10 minutes and 2 pieces maximum.

B. FOLKLORE-From this category, the participant may choose any folklore choral piece. The lyrics doesnot have to be in the original language but must contain folk melody and lyrics. Traditionalchoreography or costume mayadd additional points. There are no limits on using accompanyinginstrument, however, MR/AR is not allowed, ONLY LIVE PERFORMANCE. The performance must be10 minutes and 2 pieces maximum.

C. SECULAR-Any choral piece including Acappella and contemporary which does not belong in A or B can be performedin this category. There are no limits on using accompanying instrument, however,MR/AR is not allowed, ONLY LIVE PERFORMANCE. The performance must be 10 minutes and 2pieces maximum.

*GRAND PRIX-The Grand prix winner will be chosen from the winner teams from each category whoearns the highest score.

[COMPETITION COMMON REGULATION]

1. Copyrights regarding music scoresand any other information materials submitted to the festival committee by the choir will not be the committee’s responsibility,but the participants will be liable.

2. Competition will be opened only to the participants who registered, however, those who are willing to walk-in on that day without registration will not be able to enter the venue. 

3. Each piece (music score) must be submitted by one PDF file. The music score and the performance must be identical (if the score has been arranged, the final score file must be arrange as it is performed), and a brief program note for each song must be submitted in English with the score. 

4. Festival participants(singers) must be18 or under(up to high school students).
   *Please keep age limit.

5. Submitting the materials after the deadline may bring disadvantage to the evaluation.

6. Category winner team must earn the highest score and Gold medal from their participating category. If the choir earns the highest score with a silver medal, they will not be qualified to as winner of category. 

7. Competition duration time per category will be 10 minutes with 2 songs. 

8. There will be no limits using any accompanyinginstruments, and choir must perform LIVE.(using MR/AR are not acceptable)
