2021 WYCF Competition

 

Participants(children and youth who are 20 or younger)

CHOIR: A-D category. A group of at least 16 members.

Small CHOIR: E category. A group of at least 3 to 10 members.

Competition Categories

A. Sacred -Any Sacred piece from any era. Duration of 2-6min. 1 song.

B. Folklore -Any folk song from any country. Lyrics does not have to be in native language. Duration of 2-6min. 1 song.

C. Secular -Any choral music that is not sacred or folklore. Duration of 2-6min. 1 song.

D. Virtual Choir -Compete as one category without separating children/youth category. Live performance videos are not allowed. Videos must be recorded separately in audio and video wise. Duration of 2-6min. 1 song.(This category is not allowed to compete at the Grandprix)

E. Small Choir -No limits regarding genre of the song. Duration of 2-5min. 1 song.(This category is not allowed to compete at the Grandprix)

F. Grandprix -Winners of categories A-C will be participating only.

*Except D and E categories, each category will be evaluated separately in Children(13 or younger) and Youth(20 or younger).

Regulations

COMMON Regulations(Apply to all categories)

1. Video must be in MP4 file and music score must be in PDF file when submitting.

2. Children(13 or younger) and Youth(20 or younger) categories are separated by age. If children and youth are mixed in on choir, register the category which has 70% or more. (EX_Total 20 members / 16 children, 4 youth = must register to children category)

3. The submitting video must be recorded in the past 3 years. It must be recorded in January 1st of 2018 at the latest.

4. Editing the video during the song is not allowed. (Editing the beginning and end for duration issues are allowed)

5. All submitted videos from the participants will be played on Youtube Live and all participants must be responsible for any issues regarding copyrights of their videos.

6. Copyrights regarding videos, music, scores, and any other sources that are submitted to the festival committee will not be the committee's responsible but the participants must be liable.

7. All recording must be in live performance. Music recording accompaniment is not allowed. (Except for Category D)

8. Submitting after the deadline, there may be disadvantage in the evaluation.

9. Only Gold medal scored teams are qualified to become a winner of each category.

 

Regulations for Choir (A Sacred/ B Folklore/ C Secular)

1. Choir with at least 16 members

2. No limits in accompany instruments

3. Must submit a video of 1 piece, duration must be 2-6 min

Regulations for Choir (D Virtual Choir)

1. Choir with at least 16 members

2. No limits in genre

3. Music recording accompaniment is allowed

4. Submitting video does not have to be a live performance video. It may be a separate recording.

5. Must submit a video of 1 piece, duration must be 2-6 min

 

Regulations for Small Choir (E Small Choir)

1. Choir with 3 to 10 members only

2. No limits in genre, only children and youth category are separated

3. Must submit a video of 1 piece, duration must be 2-5 min

 

Regulations for GRANDPRIX (F GRANDPRIX)

1. Each category winners are qualified to compete. No need to submit another video. (Same video will be used for Grandprix)

Regulations for Evaluation

• Score standards (Total score)

          GOLD                       90.0-100.0

          SILVER                      80.0-89.9

          BRONZE                   70.0-79.9     *Lower than 70.0 is not qualified for medals

 

• Evaluation standards

Technical Evaluation 50pts: Intonation, Sound Quality, Dynamics

Artistic Evaluation 50pts: Interpretation, Fidelity, Overall Artistic Expression

*Other elements that will allow you to earn:

1. How was the selection of the piece/was it suitable for the choir?

2. Were there any less or more members than it was supposed to be?

3. Was the duration of the piece too long? or too short? etc.

• This year's competition will be evaluated by choral experts around the world. The results of the competition are made by each jury's evaluation(scores) and participants cannot raise an objection.
