Eileen Chang, 아일린 장
Eileen Chang is the Artistic director of Cantabella Children’s Chorus. Under her direction, Cantabella's Honor Choir has won various awards at the 2009 and 2015 Golden Gate International Children and Youth Choral Festival, and the 2012 World Choir Game in Cincinnati. Ms. Chang was a guest conductor at CMEA Central California Middle School Honor Choir Festival in 2016. She is also the founder and Artistic Director of the New Choir. The choir receives frequent requests for guest performances in the San Francisco Bay area. Recently, the New Choir received a Golden Diploma in the 2016 Golden State Chorale Trophy Competition in Monterey. Both Cantabella and New Choir have been honored with performances at the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Western Division Convention. Ms. Chang is passionate about choral music and all related activities. She has served as a lecturer at the Presbyterian Seminary of Korea and Hyupsung University, teaching Conducting Technique and Choral Literature. She did her undergraduate studies in Voice Performance at CSU Long Beach and her graduate studies in Choral Conducting at the Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey. Ms. Chang studied with Dr. Joseph Flummerfelt and performed as a member of the Westminster Choir. She has sung under the direction of Kurt Mazur, Lorin Maazel, and Wolf Sawallisch in various venues including the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Spoleto Festival USA. Ms. Chang’s music is influenced by the tutelage of Hoon Cha Chai, Joseph Flummerfelt, and Christian Grube. Eileen Chang은 미국 서부에 위치한 칸타벨라 어린이합창단의 예 술감독으로 있으면서 2009년 여러 대회에서 상을 수상한 경력이 있다. 또한 2015년 골든게이트 국제 청소년 합창페스티발에서 상 을 수상하였으며 2012년 미국 신시내티에서 열린 합창올림픽에서 도 수상한 경력이 있다. 객원지휘자로써도 여러 곳에서 활동 중인 그녀는 혼성합창단인 New Choir를 창단하여 지금까지 음악감독으 로써 활동하고 있다. 이 합창단은 미국 서부의 여러 지역에서 초청 되어 왕성한 활동을 하고 있으며 최근에는 골든스테이트 합창경연 대회에서 금상을 수상하기도 하였다. 미 서부지역의 미국지휘자협 회 컨벤션에서 칸타벨라와 뉴콰이어가 함께 특별히 초청되어 연주 하기도 하였다. 합창과 관련된 모든 일들에 있어 열정적인 그녀는 한국의 여러 대학에서 합창지휘와 문헌을 강의를 하기도 하였다. CSU Long Beach에서 성악을 전공하고 미국 프린스턴에 위치한 Westminster Choir College에 서 합창지휘로 석사를 마친 그녀는 미국의 유 명한 지휘자인 Dr. Joseph Flummerfelt의 지휘아래 Westminster Choir에서 단원으로 활동하며 케네디센터, 링컨센터, 카네기 홀 등 세계 유수 연주홀에서 Kurt Mazur, Lorin Maazel, Wolf Sawallisch 등 세계 유명한 지휘자들과 함께 협연하였다. 그녀는 한국의 최훈 차 교수와 미국의 Joseph Flummerfelt, 그리고 Christian Grube에 게서 사사하였다.
T.J.Harper, 티제이 하퍼
T. J. Harper is the Chair of the Providence College Department of Music, Associate Professor of Music, and Director of Choral Activities at Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island. He is the 2015 Professor of the Year and recipient of the Joseph R. Accinno Teaching Award. Dr. Harper maintains an active schedule in the US and abroad as a guest conductor, clinician, and jury member. Recent engagements include residencies, guest conducting, lectures and master classes in China, Argentina, Sweden, Italy, Spain, Costa Rica, Germany, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Venezuela and honor choirs throughout the US. Dr. Harper is a Board Member for the International Federation of Choral Music (IFCM), the Chair of the ACDA Standing Committee on International Activities and the Director of the ACDA International Conductors Exchange Program (ICEP). Dr. Harper’s research interests have led to funded research projects exploring voice-science in the choral rehearsal; the music of Johannes Brahms at the Brahms Institute in Lübeck, Germany and the Musikverein in Vienna, Austria; the music of Maurice Duruflé at St. Peter’s Abbey in Solesmes, France; and the folk music traditions of the Korean Peninsula at Dankook University in Seoul, South Korea. His publications have appeared in the ACDA Choral Journal, the IFCM International Choral Bulletin, the NAfME Online Choral Forum, and the RIMEA Music Education Journal-RIMER. Dr. Harper received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Southern California where he graduated with honors. He received the Master of Arts in Choral Conducting from California State University, Northridge and the Bachelor of Arts degree and Choral Conducting from California State University, Fresno. He taught in the California public school system for six years and was honored for excellence in teaching in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. Dr. Harper is an advocate for the promotion of undergraduate and graduate music education and choral music in the public schools.
